Bordeaux, Air France employees protest against shuttle bus suppression
The vehicle is used to connect the city with Orly airport
Some Air France employees decided to protest this morning in Bordeaux together with union representatives and other users. The reason is easy to say: the Transalpine flag carrier intends to suppress the shuttle that connects the city's airport with the Paris-Orly airport. Such a choice would lead to the loss of the job of more than one hundred people and around 12 o' clock the employees of the air carrier met at the local headquarters of Air France. The abolition of the bus was formalized on 3 July together with the abolition of what are considered "small" connecting lines, a strategy linked to the aid of seven billion Euros from Paris.
The railway alternative allows to cover the train journey in less than two and a half hours. Number of layoffs makes are impressive if compared to the total number of actual positions, 200 units, so more than half the staff could go home. The French carrier has ensured the possible reintegration of the 114 employees in another airport, "Charles de Gaulle" in Paris-Roissy, a prospect that unions do not like. The agency of the company in Bordeaux that manages the shuttles is expected to close at the end of 2021, in the worst case already in March.
